Calling all fans of the 1997 killer snake movie: Jack Black’s 2025 meta reboot of Anaconda is now streaming on Netflix. Directed by Tom Gormican (Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F), the buddy comedy follows four friends who head into the jungle to remake their favorite creature feature, only to realize they’re being hunted by a real Amazonian serpent — with a monster appetite. Joining Black (The Polka King) in the action-adventure film are Paul Rudd (Living with Yourself), Steve Zahn (The Ridiculous 6), and Thandiwe Newton (Big Mouth).

Wedding videographer Doug McCallister (Black) always dreamed of making movies with his childhood best friend, struggling actor Ronald "Griff" Griffen Jr. (Rudd). When Doug realizes how far he’s drifted from his aspirations as an adult, he tells a white lie in order to convince his friends — Griff, cameraman Kenny Trent (Zahn), and actor Claire Simons (Newton) — to help him make a reboot of Anaconda, the 1997 blockbuster that inspired him to become a director. However, things quickly go awry when, on their first day of shooting in the Amazon, Griff accidentally kills the snake they rented. A lack of budget forces the tiny crew to trek into the jungle to try and trap a new serpent — but the horrifying creature they stumble across is a reptile large enough to swallow a man whole. And once this gigantic anaconda gets a taste of their blood, survival is the only thing on the filmmakers’ minds.
