In dystopian Seoul, the survival of humanity depends on delivery people — actually armed guards who transport necessities to the city’s segregated districts. A subset of these couriers, black knights, covertly move resources to refugees deemed unworthy of oxygen, food and water by the government. In the Korean sci-fi series Black Knight — premiering May 12 — the biggest hero of them all is 5-8, who refugees like Sa-wol idolize and want to become.

Kim Woo-bin

5-8

A legendary delivery driver, 5-8 is tasked with bringing oxygen and food to the residents living in the General District. He also makes illegal drop-offs to refugees in need. He and a handful of his colleagues have been secretly planning to undermine the evil business conglomerate Chun-myung Group’s aggressive migration plan — a plan that will have devastating consequences for the Refugee District.

Kim Woo-bin is best known for starring in the series Heirs as well as School and its reboot, School 13. More recently, he starred in Uncomfortably FondOur Blues and Master

Yoon Sa-wol

Sa-wol is a rebellious teen who loves to sneak out and get in trouble with his refugee buddies. He was rescued by Seol-ah nine years ago during the refugee protest and lives with her and her younger sister, Seul-ah — even though harboring refugees is against the law.

An up-and-coming actor, Kang was featured in the series Melting Me SoftlyBeyond Evil and Light on Me

Song Seung-heon

Ryu Seok

The son of Chun-myung Group’s chairman, Rye Seok is dangerously ambitious — he’ll do anything to achieve his goals. He also loathes refugees and doesn’t think they have a place in this society.

Song starred in the series Dinner Mate and was featured in the series Voice, among others. He also starred in the wartime romance film Obsessed opposite The Glory’s Ji Yeon-lim.

Roh Yoon-seo

Jung Seul-ah

Seol-ah’s younger sister, Seul-ah, gives Sa-wol a lot of tough love and treats him like her little brother. When Sa-wol gets in trouble, Seul-ah is always happy to ensure he’s following her sister’s orders.

Rising star Roh Yoon-seo won a Baeksang Arts Award for her role in the series Crash Course in Romance. She also starred in the film 20th Century Girl and alongside Black Knight castmate Kim in the series Our Blues.
