Blood, betrayal, sizzling stares and blaring ambulance sirens abound in Elite’s latest trailer. If this sounds like business as usual at Las Encinas, Season 5 is about to up the ante with some spicy new students, explosive fights and steamy dance-floor kisses. In the words of newcomer Isadora (Valentina Zenere): “I’m going to ask you to fasten your seatbelts.”

The drama’s newest season picks up after Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau) kills Armando (Andrés Velencoso), and Samu (Itzan Escamilla) helps him hide the body. If Elite has taught us anything, it’s that murder can, um, take a toll on your well-being and interpersonal relationships, and the trailer sees Samu finding some solace in his relationships with Ari (Carla Díaz) and her father, headmaster Benjamín (Diego Martín)... for now. 

Speaking of relationships, Mencía (Martina Cariddi) and Rebeka (Claudia Salas) withstood the trials of Season 4, but their romance might get a little shaky. “Sometimes I feel that, no matter how hard we try, we won’t work,” Mencía tells a distraught Rebe in one moment. We also see Omar (Omar Ayuso) send a few messages to Ander (Arón Piper), who left at the end of Season 4 to travel the world.

Several hookups, confrontations and raves later, the trailer closes on a haunting image of Patrick (Manu Ríos) in a blood-soaked muscle tee. Did someone make an attempt on his life? Did he make an attempt on someone else’s? We’ll get some answers when the season premieres April 8 — and knowing Elite, they might get gruesome.
