Earth Week: Sustainability Stories and Activities for the Whole Family

We believe Earth’s best story comes next — here’s what to watch and do to get inspired.

Hey parents! Monday, April 22 is Earth Day, a time to appreciate our shared home, Earth. But our planet is changing rapidly and young people are especially worried about how this will impact their futures.

In the face of this growing concern, experts remind us that hope can help us imagine a better future. And movies and shows can inspire us, helping families start meaningful conversations about how to make that future a reality. Take Our Living World, a new docuseries launching April 17 and narrated by Cate Blanchett, which explores nature’s seemingly magical abilities to restore the planet. Or Spirit Rangers, a preschool animated series where Native American siblings transform into animal spirits to protect their home and the creatures within it (a new season is out now!).

We believe Earth’s best story comes next. So we created this Earth Week PLAYbook to explore a selection of hopeful movies and shows — as well as family-friendly activities — that enrich our understanding of nature’s wonders, take on inspiring perspectives from planet-saving heroes, and highlight the exciting solutions –– new and old –– already making a difference. Use the PLAYbook to go on a neighborhood nature walk with your family, draw your vision of a healthy planet, learn about solutions underway, discover the mysterious web of life, and more!
