Mark Rober, Pioneering Creator and Former NASA Engineer, Is Coming to Netflix

Look out for his jaw-dropping experiments later this year and a new competition show in 2026.

Only one man can pull off the world’s largest elephant toothpaste explosion, and teach us whether lava, a laser, or a flaming arrow can blow up a boat (a laser, naturally!). Now he’s coming to Netflix.

Mark Rober, the former NASA engineer turned social media star, teacher, inventor, and philanthropist, is coming to Netflix with a new Kids and Family competition series in 2026; it’ll be produced by his company, CrunchLabs, in partnership with Kimmelot, Jimmy Kimmel’s production company. (Rober is a frequent guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live!) Rober and CrunchLabs Chief Content Officer, Scott Lewers, will executive produce the new show alongside Kimmel and Kimmelot’s President, Scott Lonker.

In addition to the new show, Rober will bring some of his most beloved, ambitious, and informative experiments to Netflix later this year.

“I love turning learning into a game, basically hiding the vegetables in the dessert, and now it’s a full-on competition game show!” says Rober. “When you’re having fun, you’re learning without even realizing it. And teaming up with Netflix and Jimmy Kimmel to make this happen? This is gonna be epic!”

Kimmel is just as stoked to create fusion between Rober and Netflix. “My kids love Mark Rober, and so do their parents. Mark’s videos are so clever and inventive, it’s easy to forget that they’re educational, too. We can’t wait to introduce one of the best and brightest creators to Netflix.”

Rober’s passionate following of kids — and kids at heart — totals more than 76M across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and more. A 9-year veteran of NASA, Rober’s work first went viral in 2011 when he made a Halloween costume hacked together from two iPads, which made it look like he had a huge hole in his torso. He’s gone on to amaze fans with stunts like glitter-bombing porch pirates, creating the world’s first pool of Jell-O, and throwing an unhittable baseball. He also founded CrunchLabs, “a Willy Wonka factory for engineering,” which spawned a virtual camp and a hands-on STEM subscription box that teaches kids to think like engineers.

Rober’s innovative brand of entertainment will be at home in Netflix’s lab of Kids and Family programming, whether it’s recent releases like KPop Demon Hunters or social media phenom Ms. Rachel. “Mark Rober’s unique approach to STEM learning inspires all ages — his storytelling is infectious. When my son and daughter spot a new Build Box at our doorstep, we know that an amazing adventure awaits! Collaborating with CrunchLabs and Kimmel on a competition series for kids is going to be next level and sure to earn me father of the year,” says John Derderian, Vice President Series, Animation, Kids and Family.
