After a ruthless villain is sentenced to death by the Joseon-era king she serves, she miraculously wakes up in modern-day Seoul. As she tries to navigate this brand-new world — and all the rich opportunities that come with it for an enterprising young woman — she repeatedly clashes with a calculated corporate magnate who will sacrifice anyone and anything to make sure his business comes out on top. But when she realizes he’s the only one who can help her rewrite her fate, she’ll stop at nothing to get him on her side. My Royal Nemesis stars Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun as the star-crossed enemies-to-lovers. The fantasy rom-com series is directed by Han Tae-sub (Cheer Up) and written by Kang Hyun-joo (Lost in Starlight).

What happens in My Royal Nemesis?

Accused of conspiracy to kill the queen and crown prince, Kang Dan-shim (Lim), the king’s favorite mistress, is sentenced to be executed on the day of the solar eclipse. But when the palace guards force poison down her throat, Dan-shim’s soul is transported into the body of Shin Seo-ri, an aspiring actress 300 years in the future. When Seo-ri opens her eyes, she’s working as a body double for the lead in a Joseon-era period piece.

While struggling to make sense of where she is and how she got here, Seo-ri is nearly run over by business tycoon Cha Se-gye (Heo) while he’s driving to his next meeting. The hot-tempered CEO lashes out at Seo-ri and the two trade barbs.

Later, once Seo-ri recovers from the shock of waking up in the 21st century, she realizes that this may be her one chance for a second shot at life. Despite having nothing but the clothes on her back, all she needs is one powerful ally like Se-gye to rise to even greater heights than she could have ever imagined in the 18th century. Determined to win over Se-gye, Seo-ri entangles herself in his life in a series of contentious encounters that slowly blossom into genuine affection.
