Noah Kahan Goes Home in Documentary Out of Body

Forgive the Northern attitude — the singer is ready to open up.

    March 31, 2026

Singer-songwriter Noah Kahan became an unlikely sensation in 2022 with “Stick Season,” the song (and album) that turned the anxieties of his rural upbringing in Vermont into anthems for a global audience. His bitingly honest songwriting has given a devoted fan base of “Busyheads” — who take their name from his debut album — a way to share in his highs and lows as he lays bare his struggles with mental health and the pressures of self-discovery. Now a new documentary will capture Kahan on an emotional homecoming as he begins work on his follow-up album and faces the mounting pressure of what comes next.

Noah Kahan: Out of Body, now streaming, finds Kahan at a crossroads in the wake of the breakout success of Stick Season. After a whirlwind year of sold-out tours and unprecedented acclaim, he returns to his Vermont roots and family. Buoyed by his uncanny wit, he searches for a sense of home and creative inspiration as he confronts the deeply personal struggles that have left him out of sync with himself. “When we started filming, I had no idea what we’d capture, only that Noah was determined to be honest about everything, especially the messy bits,” director Nick Sweeney (Santa Camp, AKA Jane Roe) tells Netflix. “He was in a strange in-between moment, caught in the collision between almost surreal fame and a quieter inner world he’d tried to keep offstage. What we captured over the course of a year surprised me — moments that were thrilling, terrifying, [and] hilarious, often all at once. I’m so excited to partner with Netflix to invite viewers worldwide into Noah Kahan’s head as his world shifts beneath his feet.”

Noah Kahan: Out of Body is now streaming.
