The critically acclaimed British crime drama Top Boy has been renewed for a third and final season, bittersweet news for viewers and fans of the word bruv. This announcement follows the series’ successful second season on Netflix, which soared to No. 1 in the United Kingdom after its March 18 premiere.
Following a major character death in the Season 2 finale, Season 3 is primed to tie up loose ends. As the heart-thumping teaser trailer suggests, will the Top Boy of Summerhouse be Dushane (Ashley Walters)? Will it be Sully (Kane Robinson)? Are we going to get a total wildcard? The only certainty is that it’s going to be a wild ride.
Walters and Robinson released the following statement to fans about Top Boy’s final chapter:
“For those that have followed the journey from the start, you will know how much this show means to everyone on our team and we wholeheartedly know how much it means to you. These characters have been a part of our lives for over a decade now and without everyone’s support we couldn’t have come this far.
“Whilst the journeys of Dushane and Sully have remained at the core of the show, the new characters that have entered the world of Top Boy have become a key part of the show’s legacy, representing each new storyline in a raw, authentic way.
“With all this being said, and staying true to our original goal, every story must have an ending and so season three will be our finale. A chance to come full circle and end the journey in the right way.
“We’re very excited about what’s next and thank you for riding with us. We appreciate you. See you again soon.”
Top Boy was created and written by Ronan Bennett. Myriam Raja is set to direct Season 3. The program is executive produced by a slew of talent, including Drake and LeBron James. Filming for the third season of Top Boy begins in summer 2022.
