Explore the Lilly Pulitzer Looks and Pretty Pastels of Sirens

Dip your toe into the enthralling world of Sirens with this featurette on the limited series’ costuming.

Set on a lavish island estate over Labor Day weekend, Sirens draws you into its world of opulent wealth — and the costumes are a huge part of that world building. From pretty pastels to sweeping silk gowns, every outfit seen on the show was designed with careful consideration. “The Sirens story is so much about ambition, power,” says creator and showrunner Molly Smith Metzler. “It’s about greed. It’s about wealth. It’s a tough order for a costume designer.”

Costume designer Caroline Duncan shares that she and Smith Metzler discussed the tone of the series and the intersection of humor, darkness, and mythos of these women before she began her work. Duncan then considered “how that would influence their wardrobe in the fabrics and the colors, to match the moods and sounds and spirit of the island.”

Meghann Fahy, who plays Devon DeWitt, agrees that there was a lot of deliberation surrounding the outfits. “Everything we wear is pretty much a statement,” she says.

Sirens also stars Julianne Moore, Milly Alcock, and Kevin Bacon. Stream it now.
