How did The Diplomat Season 2 end

Watch the recap video above to catch up on all the high tea and hijinks of the political drama’s second season.

Season 1 ended with a bang — literally. When Season 2 picks up, Hal Wyler’s (Rufus Sewell) life hangs in the balance, and Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) races to uncover who was really behind the attack on the British carrier ship. As new information comes to light throughout the season, the Wylers discover Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) was the one who hired a mercenary to carry out the attack. Deciding President Rayburn (Michael McKean) needs to know what his deputy is capable of, Hal calls the White House to deliver the devastating intel. But he could never have imagined the outcome. “He got really upset,” Hal says. “He died, Katie. The president is dead. Grace Penn is president.”

Where do we go from here? Find out when Season 3 of The Diplomat premieres on Oct. 16.
