Baby Saja in KPop Demon Hunters: Go ‘Goo Goo Ga Ga’ for the Diabolical Cutie

“Don’t be mistaken by his childlike appearance … Inside, he’s a vicious demon, and he will eat your soul.”

This article contains major character or plot details.

The aptly named Baby Saja serves as the maknae — the youngest member — of the Saja Boys, and at first glance, he fits the part. With his cherubic styling, he looks like the embodiment of pure innocence. But that sweet demeanor is a carefully crafted facade. Behind their polished idol disguises, he and his fellow Saja Boys have been dispatched from the underground, slipping into the human world with a single chilling mission: to charm, distract, and ultimately steal the souls of unsuspecting fans across the globe.

According to KPop Demon Hunters character designer Marion Bordeyne, Baby was intentionally crafted to weaponize his cuteness. The goal, she explains, was to make him “so cute that it would circle back to being annoying to the girls.” His wardrobe plays a major role in achieving that effect: tiny news caps perched atop his head and preppy pink sweaters draped over his shoulders. But as head of story Ryan Savas warns, no part of Baby’s appearance should lull anyone into a sense of comfort: “Don’t be mistaken by his childlike appearance on the outside. Inside, he’s a vicious demon and he will eat your soul.”

Baby’s story arc

Baby first appears in the demon realm during a high-stakes meeting with Gwi-Ma, where he joins Jinu in pitching a plan to debut the Saja Boys — a rival K-pop group to take on HUNTR/X. In the human world, Baby leans hard into his bottle-sipping, toddler-like persona, quickly becoming a fan favorite. His cuteness is what helps the Saja Boys achieve their tremendous level of success, with the boy band earning a powerful fandom known as “The Pride.” But when the showdown between HUNTR/X and Gwi-Ma erupts, Baby’s cuteness can’t save him — he and the rest of the Saja Boys are swept up in the chaos and ultimately lose everything.
