A New Rebel Moon Podcast Reveals the Origin of the Jimmys

The Seneschal is a prequel with a full cast set 500 years before Rebel Moon.

    July 19, 2024

Get ready to return to the Rebel Moon universe. Before Zack Snyder’s long-awaited director’s cuts hits Netflix on Aug. 2, you’re invited to travel 500 years back in time with The Seneschal, a narrative fiction podcast. Featuring new characters voiced by a full cast, it’s about the genesis of the Jimmys, the robot knights voiced in the film by Sir Anthony Hopkins. “Now that you’ve met the Jimmys in the movie, I want to tell their story, their creation, and how they came to be,” Snyder says in a new video teaser. “I can’t wait for you to listen.”

Read on to learn more about The Seneschal, and stay tuned to travel back to the earliest days of the Motherworld.

What is The Seneschal about?

Long before the Motherworld battled the rebel army on Veldt, 500 years before Issa was reborn, Moa and its colonies were ruled over by a mercurial and brutish despot, the mad King Ulmer. Despised by his people but determined to hold on to power at all costs, Ulmer revives the lost prophecy of Issa as a balm for the masses. And with it, he orders a pair of renowned inventors to build a warrior knight unlike any before. A tale of creation, ambition, faith, and betrayal, this is the story of the first Jimmy, the man who constructed him, and the woman who gave him life.

Who’s in the cast of The Seneschal?

The Seneschal features some familiar voices, including:

  • Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets, Fallout) as Raina
  • Naveen Andrews (Lost, Sense8) as Grigory
  • Alfred Enoch (How to Get Away with Murder, the Harry Potter series) as Adwin
  • Peter Serafinowicz (The Tick, Shaun of the Dead) as Bartholomew
  • Jason Isaacs (The OA, the Harry Potter series) as King Ulmer

When will The Seneschal be released?
