All the Light We Cannot See

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Anthony Doerr, the four-part limited series is a coming-of-age story that takes viewers back to German-occupied Paris. In Levy’s adaption, we meet blind French teenager Marie-Laure (Aria Mia Loberti) who connects with a German orphan named Werner (Louis Hofmann) through radio frequencies. As Marie-Laure and her father (Mark Ruffalo) flee Paris to her uncle’s (Hugh Laurie) house in Saint-Malo, the two strangers’ paths intertwine against a backdrop of war and destruction. “The book — just as its title promises — is about lightness and darkness and hope and evil and heartbreak and love,” Levy told Tudum back in April.

The Adam Project

“What if you could make your peace with your own history?” Levy asked Tudum back in November 2022. In this sci-fi action film, the director explores the answer to that question through time travel. Fighter pilot Adam Reed (Ryan Reynolds) goes back in time from the year 2050 to try and save his wife, but accidentally crash lands in the year 2022. There, Adam teams up with his 12-year-old self (Walker Scobell) in order to save the future, but the duo also end up coming to terms with their complicated family history.

Shadow and Bone

Levy serves as a producer on this fantasy saga based on the book series by Leigh Bardugo. Set in the fictional world of Ravka, Shadow and Bone follows a young orphan and cartographer named Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) who discovers she possesses a magical power that can summon sunlight. The war-ridden Ravka is divided by the Shadow Fold, a ribbon of darkness that’s home to flesh-eating monsters, and only Alina can use her powers to restore her nation.

Stranger Things

Levy is a director and executive producer on the Duffer Brothers’ hit sci-fi horror drama series. Set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, during the ’80s, Stranger Things follows a young friend group who uncover a series of secret experiments conducted by the nearby Hawkins National Laboratory. These experiments have opened a portal to an alternate dimension called the Upside Down, and the friends come face-to-face with paranormal and supernatural occurrences. Levy has directed several episodes over the show’s tenure, including the pivotal Season 4 installment “Dear Billy,” which features the famous scene with Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill.”

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Season 2, Episode 6, “Kimmy Drives a Car!”

Levy stepped behind the camera for a 2016 episode of Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s sitcom about a woman adjusting to normal life after being held captive for 15 years in a doomsday cult. Fire up this episode to find the titular Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) reaching her limits with self-centered friend Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski), while her roommate, Titus (Tituss Burgess), deals with hipsters invading the neighborhood after he rents their apartment on Airbnb.

This Is Where I Leave You

After the death of their father, four grown siblings return home to sit shiva for one week — alongside their celebrity therapist mother (Jane Fonda), spouses, and exes. Their moment of mourning quickly turns into bickering and backstabbing, as the Altman family must confront crises in their love lives and with each other. Levy directs a star-studded cast that includes Jason Bateman, Adam Driver, Corey Stoll, Tina Fey, Timothy Olyphant, Rose Byrne, Kathryn Hahn, Connie Britton, Ben Schwartz, Dax Shepard, and Abigail Spencer.
