Who makes the band?

After hundreds of auditions, Cowell had to make a tough decision, narrowing the pool down to 16 hopefuls to take to Miami: Aron, Evan, Filip, Joe, Jake G., Jake E-B, Leon, Max, Samuel, Cruz, Danny, Hendrik, John, Joshua, Nicolas, and Seán. Who will prove to Cowell that they’re more than just raw talent? Check out Tudum’s guide to the top 16 to find out more about their musical backgrounds and the artists who inspire them.

Has December 10 released any music?

The band December 10 — named after the launch date of Simon Cowell: The Next Act — released their first music video less than a week after the show premiered. The group of seven filmed a cover of fellow boy band NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye at Metropolis Studios in London.

Who helps Simon form the band?

From weighing in on the judging panel to coaching the top 16 hopefuls directly, these industry insiders work alongside Cowell to identify and develop talent across the season:

  • Savan Kotecha is a record producer and songwriter who has written for artists like One Direction (fun fact: he wrote 1D’s “What Makes You Beautiful” for his wife), Ariana Grande, Usher, Britney Spears, and more. His experience selling over 375 million records is one of many reasons Cowell asked him to join the judging panel.
  • Kamille is a Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter and record producer who joins the judging panel as “the voice of the youth.” She has worked on songs with Dua Lipa, Demi Lovato, and others, amassing more than 6.8 billion streams.
  • Pete Waterman is a record producer, songwriter, and OG judge on talent shows like Pop Idol. He’s also one of Cowell’s best friends — an equally important résumé item.
  • Robert 'RAab' Stevenson is a vocal coach to some of today’s most celebrated singers — from Justin Timberlake and Rihanna to Lizzo and SZA. He works closely with the boys, teaching them to harmonize and to embrace their confidence.
  • Julian Bunetta is a songwriter and producer who has worked with One Direction and Teddy Swims. Cowell brings in Bunetta to help make some tough choices at the end of Miami week.
  • Jason 'Poo Bear' Boyd is a singer-songwriter and record producer best known for his songwriting work for Justin Bieber. He brings out the best in the boys in the recording booth in Miami.

How did Simon Cowell get famous?

Reality and music fans alike have watched Cowell build acclaimed bands on television many times before. Since 2001, he has appeared as a judge on several music reality competition series, including Pop Idol, American Idol, The X Factor and The X Factor UK, Britain’s Got Talent, and America’s Got Talent. On these shows, he became infamous for his snarky remarks and harsh critiques. Now, however, viewers will get an even more intimate look at Cowell’s process and unparalleled ability to identify and foster talent.

Through his production company, Syco Entertainment, he has launched the careers of notable pop groups like One Direction, Little Mix, and Fifth Harmony. He also signed successful boy bands like Westlife, PrettyMuch, and CNCO to his record label Syco Music, which Cowell established as a division of Syco Entertainment in 2002 and sold as a wholly-owned subsidiary to Sony Music in 2020. Who will be the next group to join the ranks of these beloved bands?
