Woe no! Another mystery is brewing around Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega). Not only will the pigtailed teen need to unravel the secret forces of darkness when Wednesday premieres on Nov. 23, but she’ll also have to face the greatest threat of all: bad vibes. The first hints of impending doom are hiding in the punny episode titles for Season 1, all eight of which Tudum can now exclusively reveal.
While the minds behind the chilling Addams Family series, co-showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, had “fun” naming Season 1’s episodes, they also had a plan in mind. “We wanted to have some consistency and a point of view about [the titles],” Millar tells Tudum.
Mission accomplished. Because, woe Nelly, is the theme as clear as Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez’s (Luis Guzmán) passion.
Despite all the woes ahead, Wednesday, directed and executive produced by Tim Burton, will be anything but a drag (unless, of course, you’re Thing running across the floor). Season 1 introduces us to 15-year-old Wednesday, who heads to the eerie Nevermore Academy, where she’ll have to solve a deadly supernatural mystery — and navigate some other, more typical teenage problems.
“Wednesday is fully formed. She knows who she is, she loves who she is,” executive producer Gough teases. “She’s someone who says what she thinks whether you like it or not... Spiders, monsters — none of this stuff scares her. The only thing that scares her is emotion.”
Tune in on Nov. 23 to find out when Wednesday will woe — we mean show — her true feelings.
