Warning: This story contains spoilers for the finale of Partner Track.
If you’ve watched the finale of Partner Track, you know that Jeff Murphy (Dominic Sherwood) has some explaining to do.
At the end of the season, hardworking lawyer Ingrid Yun (Arden Cho) learns that one of the reasons she didn’t make partner is because her co-worker turned boyfriend tattled about her mistaken arrest earlier in the season (which happens when her sister tries to pawn jewelry belonging to Ingrid’s boyfriend).
Arguably the hardest working sixth year associate at elite New York law firm Parsons Valentine, Ingrid seems a shoo-in for the promotion she’s been working toward her entire career. At the annual partner dinner, she’s ready to accept her new position — until her boss doesn’t call her name.

“That’s a huge, huge punch in the gut. That was really unexpected,” Cho tells Tudum. “She definitely dressed for the occasion to become partner, and then the news — wow. To feel like the world is finally falling into the perfect place and she’s saving the day, and she’s got the love and she’s got the friends and everything is good, and then the way the show ends, what do we do now? Dun dun dun. Oh, boy.”
Ingrid spends the entire season working to close a deal for oil baron Ted Lassiter (Fredric Lehne) and his Sun Corp to acquire the family-owned oil and green tech company Min Enterprises — all so Lassiter can shut down Min’s eco-friendly technology. But after being skipped over for a promotion and subsequently leaving Parsons Valentine, Ingrid and her BFFs/co-workers secretly band together to pull off a shareholder block and oust Lassiter from his CEO position. Min’s green-tech mastermind, Z (Desmond Chiam), is installed as the new CEO and his first act is to tell Ingrid’s former boss that he won’t work with Parsons Valentine unless Ingrid is his point person.

So Ingrid doesn’t make partner the traditional way — the way she deserves to — but if her firm wants to keep their massive client, they have no choice but to ask her to return at the level she earned.
Her relationship isn’t doing quite as well. Although Jeff tells Ingrid he loves her, and is seemingly supportive of her massive accomplishment, she learns of his betrayal.
“He really [betrays her] in a way that Arden kind of thinks is unforgivable, but who knows? Ingrid might make other choices,” Cho says. “It’s up to the writers. Maybe he has a really good explanation, or maybe he has a very good way of saying I’m sorry, but I don’t know. I kind of feel like it’s war.”
