In the follow-up to Haseen Dillruba, husband-and-wife fugitives Rani and Rishu have escaped to the Indian city of Agra after getting away with murder in their former home of Jwalapur. But they can’t live freely as lovers, not so long as the cops are still committed to solving the cold case. As Rani plans another escape, this time to Thailand, Rishu couples with a new man to lessen mounting police scrutiny. But, boy oh boy, nothing goes as planned — and soon, Rani and Rishu are on the run again. From director Jayprad Desai (Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy) and Haseen Dillruba writer Kanika Dhillon (Dunki), Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba stars Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, and Sunny Kaushal.

What happens in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba?

At the end of Haseen Dillruba, Rishu (Massey) allegedly dies and Rani (Pannu) narrowly avoids a murder charge for supposedly killing him. But the police don’t realize that it’s Rishu’s cousin and Rani’s former lover, Neel (Harshvardhan Rane), who’s dead — not Rishu, who killed Neel after Neel threatened them, then staged his own death. Rishu and Rani can finally be together! Or so we think.

Now the pair is hiding out in Agra, India — but to keep evading the police, they can’t be seen together. They plan to flee to Thailand, but things immediately go awry: Montu (Shergill), an investigator who’s also Rishu’s distant uncle, tracks the couple down alongside Inspector Kishore (Srivastava), who’s been convinced of Rani’s complicity since Rishu’s alleged death. To evade police, Rani agrees to marry Abhimanyu (Kaushal), a mild-mannered man who’s utterly devoted to her. As police close in and new love interests enter the picture, will star-crossed lovers Rishu and Rani be able to escape unscathed?
