Big Mistakes is about to get even messier. Netflix has renewed the dark-comedy thriller series for Season 2, and extended its creative partnership with creator, showrunner, executive producer, and star Dan Levy, with a series first-look deal.
“Very grateful and beyond excited to continue the Big Mistakes adventure and my creative collaboration with Netflix,” Levy said. “Season 2 is already in the works, and it’s going to be wild. I can’t wait to get it out there to everyone as soon as humanly possible.”
The series follows Nicky (Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega), two deeply incapable siblings who are in over their heads when a misguided theft for their dying grandmother accidentally pulls them into the world of organized crime. Forced into increasingly dangerous assignments, the pair continues to fail upwards as they spiral deeper into criminal chaos they’re wildly unequipped to handle.

While plot details for Season 2 are still under wraps, the series’ first season assembled a stacked ensemble cast alongside Levy and Ortega that included Laurie Metcalf, Abby Quinn, Boran Kuzum, Jack Innanen, Elizabeth Perkins, Mark Ivanir, Ilia Volok, Jacob Gutierrez, and Joe Barbara.
The renewal extends Levy’s relationship with Netflix, which has included the 2024 film Good Grief and his appearance in the final season of Sex Education. His beloved Emmy-winning comedy Schitt’s Creek also found a massive global audience after arriving on Netflix in 2020.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Dan and to bring more of his wonderfully funny and compelling stories to life,” Tracey Pakosta, Netflix vice president, comedy series, US, said in a statement. “Big Mistakes is the most recent example of Dan’s singular voice and vision connecting with audiences around the world. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for Season 2.”
Production on Season 2 will return to New Jersey, joining Netflix projects including Happy Gilmore 2, Office Romance, and The Whisper Man that have filmed in the state.
