The Mating Season Trailer Has Come

Get ready for the new adult animated comedy, from the horny minds behind Big Mouth.

    April 16, 2026

Big Mouth has ended its eight-season run, but fans of gross-out animated humor can rest easy, because the twisted minds behind the Emmy-nominated series are coming back to Netflix with an all-new show, Mating Season, which premieres on Netflix on the 22nd of the lusty month of May.

And, in honor of National Horny Day (yes, it’s a thing!), you can now watch the trailer for the series and see what antics all the animals in it are getting up to now that spring fever has hit.

Animated deer, raccoon, and mole characters are on a bar counter; the deer poses with a red scarf, raccoon drinks from a bottle, and mole holds a glass. Colorful bottles line shelves in a lively bar setting.

Created by Mark Levin, Jennifer Flackett, Andrew Goldberg, and Nick Kroll — and executive produced by them for their company, Brutus Pink — with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina serving as executive producers for Titmouse, this is going to satisfy all your post-Big Mouth comedy cravings.

Find out more about the new series, including which actors will voice the show’s animal kingdom, below.

What is Mating Season about?

While Big Mouth told the story of a crew of adolescents and their repulsive Hormone Monsters, Mating Season is an adult animated romantic comedy — set in the animal world — about love, sex, relationships, and the universal need to find a partner and perpetuate the species — starring bears, raccoons, deer, foxes, and a host of other horny, lovable forest critters.

A cartoon bear and raccoon sit on a mossy couch in a cave, surrounded by bottles and jugs, appearing to celebrate or party. The environment includes glowing mushrooms and scattered empty containers.

“Big Mouth broke new ground in the world of adult animation with heart, humor, and total chaos — they took the awkwardness of adolescence and turned it into something universal and deeply human," said John Derderian, Vice President, Animation Series, Netflix. “Working with Nick Kroll and the brilliant minds at Brutus Pink over the course of eight seasons has been legendary. Now, with Mating Season, they’ll bring that same bold and hilarious creativity into the animal kingdom. We’re beyond excited to unleash this next chapter together.”

As for the team at Brutus Pink, they’re just excited to grow up — a little. “After eight incredible seasons telling stories about growing up, we’re excited to tell stories about actual grown-ups,” the crew added. “Who happen to be animals. Who are also cartoons.”

Four cartoon animals—a fox, bear, raccoon, and deer—share a group hug in a lush forest clearing with trees, rocks, and clear skies in the background, conveying friendship and warmth.

Who’s in the cast of Mating Season?

The cast includes:

  • Nick Kroll (Big Mouth) as a raccoon named Ray
  • June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie) as a deer named Fawn
  • Zach Woods (Silicon Valley) as a bear named Josh
  • Sabrina Jalees (Black Mirror) as a fox named Penelope
