Feeling a bit of a love hangover after watching The Perfect Find? We’ve got just the thing for you: an official playlist of the film’s R&B-infused, hit-laden soundtrack. It’ll have you feeling like a rom-com protagonist yourself.

In the new film, fashion editor Jenna (Gabrielle Union) is facing a classic rom-com dilemma, as she dates Eric (Keith Powers), a younger man who just happens to be the son of her new boss. Many of the film’s songs came from the very top: director Numa Perrier. “I made an early playlist with most every song ending up in the film,” she tells Tudum. “I wanted to have the achingly beautifully love songs from the vintage Black Hollywood era like Billie Holiday and Nat King Cole as well as our fave jams from the ’90s [and early] 2000s plus more current R&B.”

Even on set, Perrier was making soundtrack decisions. “I absolutely knew I must get Oran ‘Juice’ Jones’ ‘The Rain’ for that pivotal rainy scene,” she says. “It was unexpectedly raining that day and I couldn't stop singing it on set— we were singing every song we could think of about rain that day, so I really had that as a top priority to get that song. Everyone goes wild for it.”

Like the dreamy locations and fabulous costumes, the film’s romantic soundscape contributes to The Perfect Find’s nostalgic nod to classic rom-coms, as the cast of characters falls in and out of love against the New York City skyline. “I also want to point out that the score composed by Amanda Jones was created as a classic, sweeping piano-based motif,” Perrier adds. “There’s a love theme throughout the film that underwrites many of Jenna and Eric’s romantic moments together. That alongside the soundtrack of my dreams really makes the film feel exactly how I want it to feel — lush, passionate and playful. A good time!”
